IRBA – Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute

As part of its restructuring, the Army Health Service brings together all the activities of its four research institutions within a single institution, the Army Biomedical Research Institute (Institut de Recherche Biomédicale des Armées).

The IRBA (Institute of Biomedical Research of the Armed Forces) is the result of the grouping of the four research institutions of the Armed Forces Health Service : the Centre de Recherche de la Tronche, the former Institut de Médecine Aérospatiale de Brétigny, the Institut de Médecine Navale de Toulon and the Institut de Médecine Tropicale de Marseille.
This group has made it possible to acquire new tools and create a level 4 biological safety laboratory (LSB4), the only one of this level of safety in France.
