    Guy Môquet Gymnasium

In a fast changing neighborhood, the Guy Môquet gymnasium is a key public building in urban space. It fits harmoniously into the new landscaped streets, composing a set with the new college, while keeping its independence.

The gymnasium, together with the college, forms a coherent urban composition while asserting itself as an independent public equipment. The landscaping of the street that structures the organization of the neighborhood allows to serve both equipments in good safety conditions and to offer a lovely place to stroll.
The main facade unfolds a long linear, punctuated by ornamental elements. The horizontal wooden blades are spaced in the lower part and reveal a glass transparency on the large collective sports hall, thus showing the activities that take place there.
A wooden corner element housing the lodge, marks the entrance from the public space (entrance of associations) and articulates the main facade that extends inside the islet.
We wanted to create a landmark, a strong and attractive signal, the gymnasium being a key actor of the neighborhood. At the same time, the massing, the treatment of the facades and the choice of materials were designed to fit in harmony with the surrounding urban context.
